Brewing a Spooktacular Facebook Promotion

Halloween Facebook Promotion nine10 grande prairie

Sooner than you could say September 1st, it seemed as though the entire Peace Country was ready to put away the flip-flops and retreat back into the cooler temperatures that we have become so accustomed to. Equipped with my pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks and a freshly baked pumpkin pie cupcake from OMG Cupcakes, I am ready to tell you how to rule your next Halloween Facebook Promotion.

Don’t be the Raisin House – If you want the beloved word-of-mouth that comes from promotions, then you will need to be willing to pony up the good candy (prizes). Promotions are similar to a trick-or-treat experience. Like the title says, you don’t want to be known as the raisin house.

Costume Hours = Payoff – Just like a costume, last minute ideas and execution come off just as that… last minute. Don’t be the brand that attempts to be Chewbacca the gentle giant from Star Wars, but ends up looking like a cheap Snuffleupagus. With the proper strategy and some planning, your promotion will actually have measureable results afterwards.

Too much Hocus Pocus – If you need some sort of divine intervention just to enter the promotion, you may want to think about joining the KISS Army and keeping it simple! Your fans want to connect with you and move on. That being said, if you do want more engagement than a random draw, just keep the ask to a minimum – photo of kids in costume or best pumpkin carving.

Go Viral with the Vixens & Vampires – Halloween is a peculiar holiday with a hardcore following. This can work to your advantage. With the right promotion, it can speak to trick-or-treaters not only locally, but globally. Getting the word out further than your own neighborhood could be as simple as doing a Facebook ad campaign.

The world is your pumpkin. Have fun with all the ghouls and goblins that are waiting to be your potential customers. Just remember friends don’t let friends do Facebook promotions without an app. If you want to know how to stay in the safe zone, check out Cris’s blog – Could your Facebook Contest Shutdown Your Business Page?
